April 2011 LARGEST CONTAINER IN THE COMPANY´S HISTORY In 2010 Kind & Co., Edelstahlwerk, KG received a huge order for a set of toolings for several extrusion lines from a plant manufacturer of world wide repute. One of these sets included a container for the biggest Chinese extrusion line with a power of 15.000 t. In April 2011 the order has been successfully completed and Kind & Co. delivered the largest container in nearly 125 years of Kind & Co. history to the plant manufacturer. This extrusion line is suitable for the production of seamless aluminium tubes up to 700 mm ø and large profiles for railway applications. November 2010 INSTALLATION OF A REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE IN CHINA On 8 November 2010 KIND & CO., Edelstahlwerk, KG opened their first foreign representative office in China. The office is located about 200 km south of Shanghai, in Ningbo. Leaded by the long standing Kind & Co. collaborators Mr. Xiaoqiang Zhang and Mrs. Xiangyun Yan the office follows up the aim to co-ordinate the numerous activities in China and acts as a central partner for Asiatic and European customers. February 2010 COMMISSIONING OF A NEW VACUUM HARDENING FURNACE In order to address the tendency towards larger dies in the die casting and plastics industries, in February 2010 we have put into operation a large vacuum hardening furnace. The maximum heat sizes are 1.600 mm in width, 1.430 mm in height and 2.000 mm in depth. The maximum heat weight figures up to 5.500 kg. Affected by a max. 15-bar cooling pressure and a 560 kW cooling turbine the furnace offers a very high quenching capacity. The furnace outperforms the specifications of NADCA #207-2008, GM-PT DC9999-1 rev. 18. and Ford AMTD 2010/2011. September 2009 RE-CERTIFICATION ACCORDING TO AS 9100 REVISION B AND DIN EN 9001:2008 After a 3 year period KIND & CO., Edelstahlwerk, KG was re-certified according to the aerospace standard AS 9100 (corresponding to DIN EN 9100) from 31 August 2009 until 4 September 2009. The re-certification was successfully confirmed by Lloyd´s Register Quality Assurance with 100 % degree of performance. The certificate according to AS 9100 Revision B and DIN EN 9001:2008 is valid until December 2012 and will be examined by LRQA through yearly surveillance audits. September 2009 NORSOK - QUALIFICATION M-650 The NORSOK-standards developed by the Norway oil industry shall ensure adequate security and cost efficiency for development projects and operation of installations in this economic sector. The NORSOK M-650 „Qualification of Manufacturers of Special Materials” describes among others a series of qualification requirements to the manufacturers to produce and to establish the materials in the required forms and sizes with acceptable properties. During the qualification procedure KIND & CO., Edelstahlwerk, KG had to prove its ability to produce and handle the materials with a secured process technology and to fulfil the high requirements on the production technology and the quality inspections. September 2008 START OF PRODUCTION IN OUR RW-FACTORY (FACTORY FOR RING-ROLLED-PRODUCTS) Finally our business field „ring-rolled-products“ became an integrant part of our main business site Wiehl-Bielstein! We started building an appr. 7000 qm hall of production including an office complex in October 2007 and started production not even one year later in August 2008. Besides other manufacturing equipment our „factory in the factory“ contains several cutting machines, a new 3500 tons ring-rolling-forging-press, a radial-axial-rolling-mill, heat-treatment-furnaces and several milling centres of brand new technologies. Through the enlargement of capacity of our ring-rolling-production we are able to assure employment in support of our region „Oberberg“.
